Odds are you are a Blackburn fan (But all fans are welcome) so no longer have a team to support and you don’t know who to be watching or supporting this weekend and for the forceable future until the greatest league in the world returns. Battle lines are already being drawn with Sunderland pledging their allegiance to Koln and therefore Newcastle putting theirs in M’gladbach (Amazing how nicely that worked out kit wise) So if you’re not familiar with the league and need some help, here is a quick and biased guide to who I think you should be supporting for the next few weeks.
Off the bat for all you Bundesliga newbies lets lay some ground rules! You are about to enter one of the most intense and high scoring leagues in the world. Of course, there are still your giants and your minnows but understand this, shocks are a regular and frequent occurrence. You are a Bundesliga fan now that means forget shirts over jumpers you now wear your shirt under your lederhosen. No more will you depressingly drink you awful bear in the soggy concourse, you now grab your plastic stein full to the brim with real German beer, bring it to pitch side and drink to your hearts content. Now English fans always claim to have ultras but they are not like German ultras, bring in a flag for every man and his dog, bring out the megaphone and start to jump and sing and don’t you stop until the final whistle has been blown. And none of this 20-team nonsense! Here we play with 18. With two relegation spots and a relegation play-off place. Right, now the rules are laid out let us get to the teams.
The Nearly men
So there you have it. The Bundesliga is back and you have your pick from 18 fabulous teams to fall in love with. And trust me if you dig into them and fall into a rabbit hole you will stay a supporter far past this date. Hope I helped make your decision.
