Phew, well that was a long high. Still feels like the fallout from the Newcastle victory is just about wearing off. I’m genuinely struggling to decide my favourite part: the fact that the winning goal was a bicycle kick or how much our victory has annoyed Voldermort. But more recently I’ve come crashing back down to earth, with Huddersfield and Preston as our next two games there is a very good opportunity for positive results Huddersfield have won 1 game in their last 7 and Preston is a local derby and anything could happen. So what should our line-up be?
I mean chances are that Coyle won’t change the team at all with the only question mark being who will fill in at right back. But I’ve taken a look at Huddersfield and this is what I have concluded.
So Huddersfield, they’ve won 3 games away from home this season and have really entered a slide after a great start to the year so we should really aim to capitalise off this, now I want to pay particular focus to their match against Fulham who absolutely battered them 5 – 0 in October and Huddersfield haven’t won a game since, so it’s fair to say that there unsettled, Fulham used a 4-2-3-1 formation with the wingers playing a massive part in the game, 4 of the 5 goals came from a move down the wings or came from corners won by those wingers, so you have to be looking to exploit the flanks with the likes of Conway and Feeney.
Fulham won 65% of Aerial duels that day mainly because Huddersfield do not have a target man, they have Wells who has always been a thorn in Blackburn’s side but he is small and quick so he’s going to be looking to make the most of sloppy defending, Balls over the top or taking on the defenders, so assuming we’ll be continuing with the Lenihan and Mulgrew partnership one of the two needs to be on his back constantly making sure he doesn’t have the time nor space to turn and run at the defence because if he does he can cause problems.
The other danger man Kachunga more of a target man than Wells having scored 3 headed goals but has been less effective recently after being moved to a right winger position. He’s not scored a left footed goal this season so Blackburn defenders don’t have to be scared of letting him cut in from the right, but he is again a speed demon who will take a chance if put through.
Finally Kasey palmer the man who runs the show for Huddersfield this season he has been the man who really has been turning cogs. Playing an advanced midfield role he will exploit teams who don’t have lying midfielders so if Blackburn play a 4-4-1-1 formation or even 4-4-2 without a defensive midfielder then they are asking for trouble.
Huddersfield are very fast up top and will look to keep the ball low, looking for through balls or overlaps. They are defiantly a counter attacking side with enough pace to really punish on the brake. Blackburn need to keep a deep defensive line with the midfielders and forwards really working hard to close down the play, they will play keep ball if they have to, so let them have it! Force them to attempt long balls into the middle and they should be dealt with. I have no problem with keeping the same line up as Newcastle and I’d probably play the returning Bennet in the vacant right back role to try and match Huddersfield’s pace up top Lowe won’t be able to do that and will be skinned at wing back so please keep him in the midfield. It’s also important to add that the wing backs must play an attacking part in this game create the overlaps but don’t get caught resting otherwise we will be punished.
So do you agree?
