Well 2015 for Rovers has all in all not been that bad. A change in manager, a change in players and hopefully a change of fortune.
2015 started brightly with a decent 2-1 win over charlton in the FA Cup with the ginger Messi himself bagging a brace. This win then went on and propelled Rovers into a string of FA Cup wins and again we took ourselves within 1 win of Wembley. These wins came against double premier league opposition of Swansea the Stoke with scores of 3-1 then 4-1. Unfortunately the streak would be ended in early April after an unfortunate 1-0 loss to a late Coutinho strike.
But this FA cup run not only rallied the fans in our trip to Liverpool but also seemed to rally the players as after what had been a turbulent few months Rovers went unbeaten in the league through to the end of the season ending on a high by beating promotion contenders Ipswich 3-2 which also signalled the end of Rudy Gestede's stay at the club and he signed off in fashion with a 58min header in his last game for the club.
This season did not start at all well. It took rovers a total of 42 days of the new season to find there first win which once again came against charlton. Rovers then went on to win only 2 of the there next 7 games of which included loses against MK Dons and Bur**ey. Then came the international brake which is when positive change for the club would finally come! A change of management away from Bowyer who has since been praised by meny for steadying a sinking ship. He was replaced by Paul Lambert who went on and took the club on a 5 game unbeaten run of which they won 3 and drew 2 games that in truth should have been victories.
Which brings me finally to our last two games 2 defeats. Against Reading and Bolton. Now I didn't see the Reading game but from what I have heard it wasn't a good performance. But I was at the Bolton game. All I can say from what I saw was that it was embarrassing. At the start of the game I genuinely looked at Bolton and thought. "They look so uncomfortable and uneasy on the ball. How can we lose this game" but then as the game continued I realised that the Blackburn players didn't care. Or at least it didn't look that way. They just sat back, didn't challenge for the ball just didn't look like the rovers who had player in the previous 7 games. This made a lot of fans angry. Very angry. But in truth what we have to realise is that every team can have a drop in performance. And obviously what happened at Bolton wasn't acceptable but we can only hope that it doesn't happen again and to be honest. I trust in lambert. The embargo has been lifted player buying is possible. Lambert has admitted that improvements need to be made. In a years time I expect to look back to the game against Bolton and say "look how far we have come" the playoffs are still possible. But after looking back at previous tables you need to have a minimum of 20 wins in the season we have 6. So with 22 games left can we get 14 wins? If you look at the fixtures it could be very close. But all in all a decent year and I'm very optimistic about the future!
Also my player of the year goes to Craig Conway. A man who even when he has a bad day is still able to make it look as if it's been a good one. COYB RTID
