A tale of two halfs.
Yesterday Rovers faces of against a strong and confident Cardiff team who haven't lost a game since losing 2-1 to charlton on the 7th March last season.
Both Cardiff and Rovers went into the game searching for their first wins of the season. From the off it looked as if Cardiff was going to get that win. After an awful pass from Raya went straight to Cardiff and the and a deflected pass took the ball right into the path of Joe Mason who had all but nothing to do and took Cardiff into the lead.
For the rest of the first half I hate to say it but Rovers looked awful. The defence looked broken, constant lack of communication and overall bad team play led to many of the fans getting onto the back of Raya, Hanley and Lowe. In all fairness they had every right to. Lowe looked scared to go forward, Hanley's attempt at long passing was woefull and Raya's inexperience showed with awful distribution and decision making. At the end of the first half things did not look good for rovers and many fans where left shocked and angered by what they had just witnessed.
In my head i don't see Gary Bowyer as a man who could get angry at players and give a team the hairdryer treatment at halftime but yesterday he must have said something that made the players work because a different team came out in the second half. A team who looked to attack a team who looked confident and for once a team who wanted to win the game.
All of a sudden Duffy and Hanley worked together, Lowe started to move forward and we started to look threatening! Delfouneso hit the bar and Hanley later missed from point blank range. But he made up for it in the 88th minute after a corner was cleared into the path of Craig Conway who produced one of his excellent crosses into the Path of the captain who finished easily. 1-1
Throughout the game Blackburn had chances that could have taken them into the lead and eventually won them the game. Disallowed goal for offside many penalty shouts and opportunities that should have been taken. Overall I think that we could and should have won the game. I just hope that from now on we can watch the Rovers team who came out in the second half and not the XI that started the first.
