2016 has been in general a year to forget for Blackburn Rovers and the whole world. Mankind has started to show its true colors and beliefs after years of what seemed to be a PC controlled planet. But to end what has been a torrent year FIFA have told the English and Scottish FA that their teams will be punished is they wear Poppies in their match on the 11th of November. They say that this is due to breaching its rules on displaying political, religious, commercial or personal images on kits. The Welsh FA have already crumbled under the pressure along with Northern Ireland as they have chosen to wear plain black armbands instead.
Armistice Day has been a day that Britons and other nations have commemorated for over 100 years, in memory of all fallen heroes of war and all those who have served us, to protect us and our country. The Poppy has always acted as a symbol of unity throughout nations and as a way to show our own individual compassion's to those who have served us throughout the years. And it is this symbol of remembrance and peace that the FA have decided to punish the very countries to which this symbol means so much too so many if they wear it on Friday.
In June 2014 Argentina went out onto the pitch ,in a world cup match against Slovenia, and held a banner which in Argentinian read "The Malvinas are Argentinian" now correct me if not but I do believe that this is a political statement? Not one that was worn on their shirts as remembrance but instead a statement of malicious intent to the world in the biggest sporting event in the world. Why was this allowed to happen? Was a request made to FIFA beforehand asking permission to use it? Or was this a secretly planned attack? If the first then it should have been denied due to there "no displaying political images" rule and if the latter then why where Argentina not deducted points for a clear breach of the rules? Instead they were allowed to continue on until the final?
This is an example of the incomprehensible inconsistencies within FIFA, obviously since 2014 there have been massive changes with the organisation and this is clearly an attempt to show that as an organisation that they have changed and are ready to up hold the rules they have in place.
But this is unbelievably wrong and shows one of two things either FIFA have absolutely no understanding of British history and the importance of the Poppy to it or they company is a fascist and thoughtless group of uneducated morons who should be no-were near the head of any company, never mind the biggest sporting organisation in the world.
Only in the last few hours has it been said that the truth or facts of the statement they released had been distorted. Well how about this for a statement, FIFA as the head of the biggest sport in the world are not only unfit to do their duties for the sport but also are a plague and an embarrassment to every coach, player and fan associated. For years now we have seen there Inadequacies but this tops the lot, a company who is not able to distinguish the difference between a sign of piece and a sign of political, religious or commercial imaging should no were near any organisation.
