The bricks have been laid now we wait for the cement to dry. What I have witnessed at Ewood over the past month has been astonishing. Lambert seems to have finally got it right. With the addition of Watt, Graham and Gomez (what a beautiful man) Rovers really do seem to have changed. From what was a team that played long balls and lived off set pieces we have become a team of fast paced, good movement, goal scoring team!
Many fans believed that the departure of Rhodes meant the end to Blackburn. The thought that no players would score goals, to be far after Rhodes left our top goal scorer was on 2 so, they did not believe Brown should be playing, let alone starting, and that our midfield couldn't even create a mind map. But instead the departing of Rhodes has completely open up to the team to a whole new avenue of play.
After the January window shut not many people knew what to expect and at first it seemed that the pessimists among us had got it correct as it took us until the 16th of February to register our first win after the window. But that 3-0 win against fellow strugglers Fulham signalled the begging of a 4 game win/home streak in the league. A streak that Rovers haven't been on since 2009/10. If only we could have had the same team at the begging of the season as we do now! Imagine where we could be! After an exciting last minuet win against MK Dons and a fantastic win over high flying Middlesbrough I don't think there is any team in the league now who we cant beat at home! What's made the streak ever so more satisfying is that they have all been conducted by lamberts new signings. Graham and Watt two hard working fast paced strikers that Rovers fans have been asking for since 2012/13.
Jordi Gomez probably the most influential signing to join the club since Jordan Rhodes. The impact he has made is astonishing. He can pick a pass, create a chance, score a bloody screamer he's the Midfielder of dreams (My dreams anyway) But that's not the point. Now obviously its unlikely that all 3 of these players will still be here next season. But what it shows is that lambert knows what he is doing. He knows that players we need to play the way he wants and where he wants us to be! He has said that this summer is going to be exciting and i agree with him. I have very little doubt in my mind that the team that walks out for the first game next season will be almost unrecognisable to what it is now (Apart from Hanley, he will be our rock at the back for ever!)
