Well I've decided to start something new! Recently the rovers first team haven't been at their best and results haven't been going there way. But a Rovers team that have been doing very well in recent time has been the U21 squad. In a couple years time some of the U21s could soon be in the first team so to prepare you for their arrival every now and again I'm going to give you all the stats and facts of some of our youth. To start us off...
Connor Mahoney
Age:18
Goals (U21s): 7
Appearances (U21s): 37
Conner joined Rovers somewhat under the radar back in 2013 from Accrington Stanley. Since then he has made 37 appearances for the u21s scoring 7 goals. He made a slow start to the team not making much game time in his first year but for the last 2 seasons has been ,and is fast becoming, a real diamond for the squad. This season is already Mahoney's best season ever in terms of goals for the squad after only 8 games he has scored 4 goals that already beats his tally for the last 2 seasons combined! Fast, skilful and very technically talented. He has already shown this season that he is a danger from set pieces with a freekick goal against West Ham (scored a brace that game) and is involved in some way with almost all Rovers goals. Mahoney is fast becoming a star in the U21's squad which could sooner than expected lead to his call up to the first team. Mahoney is a very exciting young talent who is worth keeping your eyes on!
