Within the last 24 hours Blackburn Rovers have reportedly had a bid accepted for Norwich winger Elliot Bennet but who is he? Elliot has been a talented footballer for a long time and started his footballing career at the age of nine with wolves. He remained in the academy set up for 3 years (2004-2007) when he then signed a professional contract with the club. Unfortunately he never actually made professional appearance for wolves and instead enjoyed short loan spells for Crewe and Bury. Where he made 76 appearances over 2 years scored 5 and assisted “many”. After loan spells with these clubs he then made a permanent transfer to Brighton. In his time there he scored 13 goals in 89 games and in Brighton’s promotion season assisted over 20 goals! After this season Bennet was gifted with a place on the League 1 team of the year. These exceptional performances did not go unnoticed as he was then picked up by Norwich and then manager Paul Lambert! At his time at Norwich he has played 66 games scoring 2. In his most recent seasons he has been on two loans. To his former club Brighton in 2014 and most recently With Bristol City. If the transfer does happen it will be interesting to see where Lambert plays him. Does he play him in his natural wing position where he would have to take the place of either Marshall or Conway. Or does he play him in the wing back position where he has been known to play in the past. He would bring a much needed injection of speed to the team and hopeful bring a spark of creativity that the team also desperately need!
