Well it seems as if Rovers have finally reached the end of an era. Since the bigging of our time in the Championship we have had Rhodes. A player who has scored 82 goals in 154 games for the club.
From his double against Bristol back in 2012 to his Equaliser against Charlton only last week every single goal has been celebrated as if it has been his last. For 7 transfer windows there have been romours, bids and transfer requests but through it all Rhodes has stayed and continued to score.
Now from this point on, no more searching the Internet for facts and figures because that's not important anymore.
Rhodes has been exceptional for Rovers and at times I have thought to myself that maybe he's been wasted here? Maybe he'd have a better chance of getting into the international team if he played for different team? But at the end of the day he stayed and as iv said he's scored goals! My favourite memory's will be his goals against Burnley, his hat trick against Peterborough, his countless goals and his partnership with Rudy Gestede.
I think what hurts me more is the fact that Rhodes was to us like what Neymar is to Brazil. A talisman. I know what your thinking. How can he possibly compare Jordan Rhodes to Neymar? It's because whenever a team would visit Blackburn, Rhodes was the player that every fan knew of! That player that got onto the Championship team of the decade or that player who scored more goals in a calendar year than any other player in England. But now we won't have that people won't come to Ewood fearing one of the most clinical players in the country.
My hope is that this move is good for him. Part of me at first thought I hope he goes and he doesn't score a goal and he realises that Blackburn is the best place for him. But that's not going to happen he's going to go there pull on a different shirt and continue to do what he has always done. Score goals. And now I realise that I want him to score goals I want he to be the bain of every championship team going and then hopefully Premiership teams. And I want this because I hate seeing what's happened to Rudy not starting and not scoring as much as he did.
So to Rhodes I say (if he ever read this) Thank you for what you've done for Blackburn. Thank you for keeping us afloat in the Championship because I don't think without him we would even be a in the championship. Thank you for frustrating Burnley nearly every time you played them. But mostly thank you for staying a Blackburn player for over 3 years and continuing to score goals. He may not have hit that century mark but he will still go down in Rovers history for me and I will always remember him along side the like of McCarthy, Yakubu, Dunn and others as one of my favourite players to watch as I grew up.
