From the looks of things I'm starting to think that Gary Bowyer is looking to add one more striker to the squad. Having brought in Delfouneso, Koita and Barrow it means that Rovers already have 5 strikers in the team! Does this mean That Denni Avdic is someone's replacement? We already have Delfouneso for King and Koita for Rudy I'm hoping that at 6ft 4 Avdic is a replacement for Chris Brown rather than Rhodes. But Denni Avdic isn't really a household name so who is he?
Denni is a striker who was born and grew up in Huskvarna, Sweden. At the age of 15 Denni was scouted for Danish Superliga Club Brøndby IF. Unfortunately for Denni he never managed to break into the first team so in 2006 Brøndby released Denni as he wanted to live near his family in Sweden. It wasn't long before before the tall striker was picked up by Swedish league team IF Elfsborg. It was here that Avdic made his professional debut in November in the Scadinavina annual competition, the royal league. He scored 2 goals in his debut against AIK.
In 2010 Avdic made his big break when he was finally pushed forward from attacking midfielder to striker. After this change Denni went on to score 19 goals in the season, this gave him runner up in the league for top scorer. After this brilliant season for the Swedish Club Avdic made a £2 million move to German Club Werder Bremen. Unfortunately after only a handful of games for the first team and scoring 0 goals, this may have been due to a repeated injury that cursed him during his time at the German club, Denni was dropped to the reserve team where he also failed to score.
At one point in his career at one of his loan clubs Denni was Swedens second top goal scorer beaten only by, you guessed it, Zlatan. Denni never managed to regain his form as he did in his first season and at the age of 26 Denni will have very little improvement to come. But if he can regain his form and with help from better players then he could be prolific. But frankly I think Denni Avdic is way to much of a risk to waste highly need wages on him.
